In the Music Real E86, and my guest is Jo Thomas Creative Director and CEO for Metro Arts in Brisbane. JFK said “The life of the arts, far from being an interruption, a distraction, in the life of the nation, is close to the centre of a nation’s purpose – and is a test to the quality of a nation’s civilization.” Metro Arts plays an important role in the culture of our city as it champions contemporary art forms. It offers development programs as well as co presenting opportunities. In addition to the artistic programs Metro Arts also supports the wider artistic community by offering incredibly cool artistic spaces around the city for the use of creative businesses. Jo also Won the Telstra Business Awards Queensland Businesswomen of the Year for 2020. We hear about Metro Arts in lockdown, opportunities that have emerged as a result and plans to accommodate this new Arts ecosystem in the post COVID world.
